Finally, a book group where everyone actually talks about the book! Join us this May for discussions about Plato’s Phaedrus, a dialogue about love and thinking, and Ion, a dialogue about creativity. We will conclude the month with Josef Pieper’s essay on Plato, Divine Madness.

The format of the classes is simple: read the assigned reading and come prepared with a short question about what you read. Register below or just show up.

Classes are held from 5:30-6:30 pm in downtown Fairhaven: 1106 Harris Ave., Suite 307. The cost of each class is a sliding scale.

Reading schedule and registration links:

  • May 4th – Plato’s Phaedrus (beginning – 256e) – Register
  • May 11th – Plato’s Phaedrus (257a – end) – Register
  • May 18th – Plato’s Ion (whole dialogue) – Register
  • May 25th – Josef Pieper’s Divine MadnessRegister

Note: any decent edition of a work by Plato will include “Stephanus numbers” (256e, etc) that allow us to read different translations/editions but have a common way to describe what part of the work we’re talking about.
